A report from Fast Company confirms the rumor that Samsung letting go of Android Wear for its smartwatches. Instead Samsung is concentrating on Tizen as the OS for their wearables.
“ No more Samsung Android Wear devices are in development or being planned” citing Android Wear is not battery efficient and Tizen is more suitable to power smartwatches. Remember that Samsung venured into Android Wear with its Samsung Gear Live, then after that Samsung focused its smartwatches to its homegrown OS Tizen, and Android Wear was sent to oblivion. So far the Samsung Gear S2 is the latest wearable of Samsung powered by Tizen OS and the best so far, as Samsung was able to tweaked its O.S to its liking for Gear S2 at will providing a fludi and amazing UI experience, for this reason Samsung continues to improved Tizen and embed it to its wearable.
Update: the news of Samsung abandoning Android Wear was a headline, with this Samsung denied the issue and said that their statement was just taken out of context, “ Samsung has not made any announcement concerning Android Wear and we have not changed our commitment to any of our platforms,”– Samsung.
